Strata approval

Strata approval is the permission apartment owners need from their owners corporation before installing air conditioning, because the outdoor unit and wall penetrations affect common property.

Most schemes approve standard installs, but allow 2–6 weeks for by-law sign-off and expect conditions on condenser placement and noise. Some buildings pre-approve positions; a few prohibit individual units entirely. Check before quoting, it changes what any installer can legally do, and experienced apartment installers will prepare the paperwork your committee asks for.
