MEPS (Minimum Energy Performance Standards) are the legal efficiency floors every air conditioner sold in Australia must meet.

MEPS is why genuinely terrible units can't be sold here, and why grey imports are a gamble, a unit bought overseas may not meet Australian MEPS, can't legally be installed by a licensed tech, and voids the consumer protections you'd otherwise lean on. If a deal looks impossibly cheap online, MEPS compliance is the first question.
