R32 refrigerant

R32 is the refrigerant used in most current Australian air conditioners, more efficient and with a much lower global-warming potential than the R410A it replaced.

For buyers it matters in two ways: any unit still quoted with R410A is old stock (ask why it's discounted), and R32's mild flammability rating means installation and repairs are licensed work, one more reason DIY refrigerant handling is illegal in Australia. Nothing to fear in normal use.
